I was looking forward to having some increased drawing time, and doing the Nordanner Summer splash show, but fate took a turn on June 8.
My daughter fell at school and broke both her arms. She is casted from her knuckles to her mid-biceps, and is dependent for many things. I took an intermittent FMLA to care for her, though I am working 4-5 days every pay period, when my husband is off.
Theoretically, that means I have time to draw, but in practice, it isn't so. I'm still responsible for the paperwork part of my job, since that can be done from home, and the home health portion, since I can schedule it for my hubby's off hours. The last time I took off and arranged with someone else to do my home health, he refused, and I got stuck with explaining why, so I have no eagerness to go through that again.
I find that I can't focus on much, particularly since, at her last appointment on Monday, there was zero new bone growth.
I may manage to get some art done, since she is sleeping at long intervals, but I think i will be primarily inactive at least through late July.

I found my erasers!
As you all know, I'm a traditional artist at heart, and I rely heavily on my colored pencils and my moldable erasers. Well, somehow, though I don't keep them together, I lost all of them this Spring. Money is always a problem, and I forgot that they cost less than a burger. So, it's been a long time without drawing, and I kind of lost it from work stress and financial stress. In an effort to not go completely off the deep end, I went to Michael's and said I was going to buy one no matter what, so I could draw on my mini-staycation(today until Tuesday). 3 bucks for a big one. Hello, idiot, you could have fixed your lack of stress relief problem at any time if you weren't so stubborn. Then, of course, last night I went through a corner I haven't touched in months, and there they were, rolled up between a shelving unit and the wall. I blame my cats. So, hopefully I will get a couple Smaugust pieces up before the end of the month.
So much for getting any art done in May
Might not be able to do #junicorn either I had some high hopes, but so far I had one day off in May, Mother's day. My company needs 4 therapists to really make things work comfortably, and we've had only 2 since December. We haven't had 4 since... November 2019, I think. The other therapist, a guy about 15 years older than I am, has been putting off an eye surgery for about 2 years because of the shortage. And, of course, since we live in a society in which people are disposible and money is not, he gets sh*t when his paperwork falls behind. So do I, though we are each doing the work of 2. Well, now that eye went out, and he has an emergency doctor visit tomorrow. So I might be trying to do the work of 4, over a 5 county area, until further notice. I had days reserved off in June, but the high mucka-mucks will cancel them with no guilt if I'm the only therapist left.

Oh my gosh that's so scary. I hope your daughter will be okay.
My son is Autistic (7 years old) and requires a LOT of supervision (nor is he potty trained, and he's a big boy, but speech delay...). He goes to summer school but he has a ton of medical issues and we're trying to get a 1:1 aide approved for him.
So, I know your struggle. Good luck. If it's something that could have been avoided, don't be afraid to lawyer up. <3
